DTN Early Word Grains 08/26 05:57 Grains Mixed Early Wednesday December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 5 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 2 cents higher, November soybeans were 5 cents lower, and December Chicago wheat was 3 cents higher. CME Globex Recap: Global markets were mixed overnight as traders remain nervous over China's economy. DJIA futures were up early Wednesday, hinting that stocks might be able to erase some of Tuesday's loss when the big board opens. Grains were mixed with corn and wheat showing small gains while soybeans continued the late pressure seen Tuesday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 204.91 points lower Tuesday at 15,666.44. Asian markets were mixed with the Nikkei up 570.13 points (3.2%) at 18,376.83 while China's Shanghai Composite was down 37.68 points (1.3%). European markets were lower. The U.S. dollar index was 0.213 lower at 94.317. Crude oil was $0.02 higher at $39.33 while Brent crude was $0.11 higher at $43.32. December gold was $4.00 lower at $1,134.30. Soybeans at the Dalian Exchange were higher while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower.
