Trade remained light, with exporter and inland country efforts focused on shuffling barge logistics ahead of an extended river closure beginning in early December. Shipments...Weekly inspections showed an improved pace of shipments for U.S. wheat last week, coming in at 15.6 mb to put year-to-date loadings at 473 mb and 30% ahead of a year ago. Top shipper was hard red winter with 7.4 mb, followed by hard red spring with 3.8 mb. White wheat registered a total of 2.7 mb off the west coast. Top destinations off the west coast included El Salvador and Bangladesh. Crop Progress...Winter wheat conditions across the Pacific Northwest saw a modest improvement over the past week, with the good to excellent ratings for Idaho and Oregon offsetting a 2 point decline for Washington. The overall three-state index climbed a point to 402 out of a 500 point scale; the best fall ranking of the crop in more than a decade. -Norm Ruhoff Extension Economist University of Idaho CALS-AERS Copyright 2016 DTN/Telvent.
