Weekly export sales revealed heavy buying interest on all fronts over the past week, as new business set a marketing year high for the week. West coast logistics for heavy movement of grain to Portland remain hampered by the current closure of the river system for extended maintenance. Weekly Sales...Total U.S. wheat sales hit a new marketing year high of 31.4 mb last week, putting year-to-date commitments at 824 mb; 34% above a year ago and 7% ahead of the five-year average pace. Hard red winter was top seller with 11.6 mb and stands with a current year commitment of 333 mb; 91% ahead of last year and 25% above average. White wheat posted the best week of sales for the year, coming in at 10.5 mb to put overall commitments at 142 mb; 23% ahead of a year ago and 2% above the five-year average. Hard red spring sales of 7.7 mb put commitments for the year at 264 mb, which is 30% ahead of both last year and the five-year average. Top Buyers..Topping the list of weekly buyers were Unknown and Morocco, both taking about 7.7 mb. Indonesia booked 5.1 mb of hard red spring and white wheat, Mexico took 3 mb and China bought 2.2 mb of white wheat. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2017 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
