Similar gains were posted across the protein wheats, with some modest carries remaining in both hard red winter and springs. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed total wheat shipments were up from the prior week at 18.3 mb, putting year-to-date loadings at 339 mb and 2% behind a year ago. Top shipper was hard red winter with 9 mb, but white wheat had a relatively strong week of movement with 4.5 mb. Loadings of hard red spring came in at 2.2 mb. Top destinations off the west coast were Yemen with 1.8 mb followed closely by Bangladesha at 1.7 mb and Japan taking 1.2 mb for the week. Crop Progress...Much-needed precipitation across the Pacific Northwest held back winter planting progress, but Washington did sow another 10% of the winter wheat crop and stands 9% behind average at 53% planted. Oregon stands 4% ahead of average at 21% complete and Idaho is 4% ahead with 38% of the crop planted. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2017 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
