By Darin Newsom DTN Senior Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was 1 cent lower, November soybeans were 4 cents lower, and December Minneapolis (HRS) wheat was 11 cents lower. CME Globex Recap: It's not just a Monday morning to get October under way, but a rainy Monday morning across parts of the U.S. Midwest that are trying to harvest. Morning maps show a band of thunderstorms stretching from eastern Nebraska, across central Iowa, into Minnesota. While this storm system is expected to slow harvest, both corn and soybeans were on the defensive overnight. Wheat was also lower, as were all the other commodity markets. A strong rally in the U.S. dollar didn't help the commodity sector, with DJIA futures also higher. OUTSIDE MARKETS: The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed 23.89 points (0.1%) higher at 22,405.09, the NASDAQ Composite gained 42.51 points (0.7%) to 6,495.96, and the S&P 500 added 9.30 points (0.4%) to 2,519.36 Friday. DJIA futures were 36 points higher early Monday morning. Asian markets closed higher with Japan's Nikkei up 44.50 points (0.2%). European markets were trading higher with London's FTSE 100 up 36.62 points (0.5%), Germany's DAX gaining 41.66 points (0.3%), and France's CAC 40 adding 4.39 points (0.1%). The euro was 0.0077 lower at 1.1736 while the U.S. dollar index gained 0.55 to 93.62. December 30-year T-Bonds were 10/32 lower at 152'16 while December gold fell $8.10 to $1,276.70. Crude oil was $0.81 lower at $50.86 while Brent crude lost $0.70 to $56.09. China's Dalian soybean market was closed while Malaysian palm oil futures were lower overnight.
