White wheat basis also turned a bit lower. Japan was a buyer of U.S. soft white and hard red winter this week. Weekly Sales..USDA reported overall wheat sales came in slightly above trade expectations, with 18 mb in new commitments bringing the year-to-date total to 616 mb; 5% behind a year ago and 2% below the five-year average as of the second week of November. Hard red winter was top seller at 8.8 mb, and with 239 mb in sales stands 11% under a year ago but 7% above average. Hard red spring booked 4.9 mb, setting 14% behind a year ago but 1% ahead of average with 172 mb sold. Soft white had one of the better weeks over the past two months with 3.5 mb and with 138 mb in commitments stands 25% ahead of a year ago and 31% above average. Top Buyers...Japan was top buyer for the week with 5 mb, followed by 4 mb in new commitments for Indonesia.
