Prices at $5.65 this morning stand within 20 cents of the high posted in early July. Exporters generally rolled basis bids to the May futures with spot white wheat right at the ten-year average of 90 over. Hard red winter is now 140 over Kansas City May, double the ten-year average and hard red spring is below average at 130 over Minneapolis May. Shipments...USDA reported a marked downward move in total shipments for U.S. wheat over the past week, with inclement weather conditions across the nation hampering movement. Total loadings came in at 10.3 mb for the week, putting the year-to-date total at 655 mb and 6% below a year ago. Hard red spring wheat was top shipper with 3.5 mb, followed by hard red winter with 3.4 mb and soft white at 2.2 mb. Top destinations off the west coast were Indonesia with 2.3 mb, Guatemala with 1.8 mb and Yemen taking 1.1 mb. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2018 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
