A good slate of white wheat demand over the past week was confirmed, which adds to the reasoning for continued firmness in that market. Bids for hard winter and red spring wheat were otherwise more reflective of movement in the respective futures markets, as basis held steady. Weekly Sales..USDA reported a nice improvement for U.S. wheat sales, as strong white wheat interest was registered over the past week. Total sales for all wheat came in ahead of the four-week average at 14.4 mb, which put year-to-date sales at 809 mb; 12% behind a year ago and 7% under the five- year average pace. White wheat was top seller with a marketing year high of 6.1 mb putting sales at 181 mb, which stands 11% above a year ago and 22% ahead of average. Hard red spring booked 4.5 mb and with 210 mb sold, stands 28% behind a year ago and 14% behind average. Soft red winter saw 2.2 mb in sales, and hard red winter garnered only 1.6 mb for the week. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2018 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
