DTN Early Word Grains 10/08 05:42 Weaker Markets as WASDE Looms December corn was down 2 1/4 cents, November soybeans were down 4 1/2 cents, and December K.C. wheat was down 3 1/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst 6:00 a.m. CME Globex: December corn was down 2 1/4 cents, November soybeans were down 4 1/2 cents, and December K.C. wheat was down 3 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Equity markets are weaker around the globe, led by Asia with follow-through in Europe on fresh Italian budget concerns. Chinese equities returned from holiday with heavy selling despite the central bank cutting reserve requirements in an effort to shore up growth. Energy markets are weaker with crude now $3.50/bbl off its recent highs. Grain markets opened higher last night before decent selling pressure showed up around the European open. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 180.43 points at 26,447.05 and the S&P 500 down 16.04 points at 2,885.57 while the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 3.233%. Early Monday, DJIA futures were down 87.00. Asian markets were lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 191.90 points (-0.80%) and China's Shanghai Composite was down 104.84 points (-3.72%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 33.04 points (-0.45%), Germany's DAX down 90.69 points (-0.75%), and France's CAC 40 down 39.17 points (-0.73%). The euro was down 0.00490 at 1.14835 and the U.S. dollar index was up 0.3190 at 95.9130. September 30-year T-Bonds were down 2/32nds while December gold was down $7.20 at $1198.40 and November crude oil was down $0.89 at $73.45. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are closed for holiday.
