Asking prices remain firm (and far from current bids) around 119.00-120.00 in the South, and 187.00 plus in the North. Today's slaughter totaled 120,000 head, even with a year ago, but not comparable to last week's holiday kill. Live cattle contracts rallied some to end the day lower to sharply lower (off 17 to 130) nearbys fared better than deferreds. Feeder issues closed sharply lower (off 112 to 172). Beef cutouts are expected to close lower with light to moderate box movement.
