DTN Closing Livestock Comment 05/21 16:07 Livestock Contracts Close Split Thursday The livestock contracts have been indecisive this week but the cash markets have been active and aggressive. ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Thursday was another mostly uneventful day as time passed on and the market either slowly developed or continued with its trend initially established at the morning's opening bell. Excitement came from the cash hog market as the market nearly jumped $1.50 higher. Cash cattle trade was steady with Wednesday helping ensure another week of substantially higher trade. Hog prices closed higher on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $1.42 with a weighted average of $39.37 on 8,960 head. July corn is down 1 3/4 cents per bushel and July soybean meal is down $3.00. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 101.78 points and NASDAQ is down 90.90 points.
