DTN Closing Livestock Comment 09/10 16:08 Lean Hogs Carry Livestock Complex to Higher Close Upon hearing that South Korea banned pork imports from Germany after finding a positive African swine fever case, hog contracts soared, closing limit higher in nearby contracts. ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Cattle contracts were able to catch some of the support filtrating through the complex as support merely rolled off from the jolt in lean hog prices. Hog prices closed sharply higher again Thursday afternoon on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $2.46 with a weighted average of $51.33 on 10,452 head. December corn is up 4 3/4 cents per bushel and December soybean meal is down $0.60. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 405.89 points and NASDAQ is down 221.97 points.
