DTN Closing Livestock Comment 02/18 16:22 Feedlots Waiting for More Money to Surface The lean hog contracts are anxious to see Friday's export report and are hopeful that it can encourage continued strength throughout the marketplace. ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: The cattle contracts have been pressured to trade lower as traders don't like the fact that plants are still shut down and production is lagging behind where it should be. Meanwhile, the lean hog contracts were able to shake the pressure that clouded the complex earlier Thursday morning, and successfully secured another positive close. Hog prices closed higher on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $1.03 with a weighted average of $69.58 on 8,300 head. March corn is down 2 3/4 cents per bushel and March soybean meal is down $5.80. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 100.56 points and NASDAQ is down 82.96 points.
