DTN Closing Livestock Comment 03/26 16:07 Pigs Can Fly and Cattle Can Jump Whether your focus was on the cattle or lean hog contracts, it was a stellar week for the livestock markets! ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: Talk about an impressive week! The gains made throughout both the cattle and lean hog markets were utterly phenomenal this past week. The exciting thing about market's rally in both sectors (cattle and hogs) is that both markets are being met with technical support and great fundamental backing, meaning that this could very likely continue into next week's trade. Hog prices closed higher on the National Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $1.82 with a weighted average of $95.94 on 6,939 head. May corn is up 6 cents per bushel and May soybean meal is down $0.60. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 453.40 points and NASDAQ is up 161.04 points.
