DTN Closing Grain Comments 12/27 13:42 Corn, Soy Complex Surge on South American Dryness In a continuation of the recent rally, soybeans and meal led markets higher as traders added weather premium. Weekend heat and dryness in both southern Brazil and Argentina -- and forecasts for more of the same -- set the stage for a post-Christmas rally. Wheat bucked the bullish trend, retreating from early strong values. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: March corn closed up 9 cents per bushel and May corn was up 9 1/2 cents. January soybeans closed up 30 1/2 cents and March soybeans were up 30 3/4 cents. March KC wheat closed down 14 1/2 cents, March Chicago wheat was down 10 3/4 cents and March Minneapolis wheat was down 5 1/2 cents. The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.105 at 96.090. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 290.08 points at 36,240.64. February gold is down $3.70 at $1,808.00, March silver is up $0.12 at $23.06 and March copper is up $0.0770 at $4.4695. February crude oil is up $2.01 at $75.80, February heating oil is up $0.0294, February RBOB is up $0.0357 and January natural gas is up $0.318.
