DTN Early Word Grains 12/27 05:45 Grains Back From Christmas, Trading Higher March corn was up 5 1/2 cents, March soybeans were up 10 3/4 cents and March KC wheat was up 6 1/2 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn was up 5 1/2 cents, March soybeans were up 10 3/4 cents and March KC wheat was up 6 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Monday, Dow Jones futures are starting slightly higher, similar to European stocks, in spite of ongoing concerns about the rapid spread of the Omicron variant. Grain are mostly higher with corn and soybeans leading the way. Other than weekly grain inspections at 10 a.m. CST, there are no other reports on Monday's docket. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 196.67 at 35,950.56 and the S&P 500 up 29.23 at 4,725.79 as the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 1.49%. Early Monday, March Dow Jones futures are trading up 18 points. Asian markets are a little lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.37% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.06%. European markets are steady to higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 unchanged, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.23% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.09%. The March euro is down $0.0020 at $1.1338. The March U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.18 at 96.16. The March 30-year T-bond is up 4/32nds, while February gold is down $4.70 at $1,807.0 and February crude oil is down $1.06 at $72.73. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was down 0.1%, January soybeans were up 0.5%, May soybean meal was down 0.2% and May soybean oil was up 1.5%. March Malaysian palm oil is trading down 1.0%.
