DTN Early Word Grains 12/29 05:47 Soybean Meal Keeps Nudging Higher, Grains Mostly Lower March corn was down 1/4 cent, March soybeans were down 4 cents and March KC wheat was down 2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Tuesday, Dow Jones futures are trading a little higher, staying near its highest prices of 2021 as investors seem relieved that although new cases of coronavirus are rising rapidly, a heavy-handed response is not being needed to manage the situation. At 9:30 a.m. CST, the Department of Energy will release its weekly report of crude oil inventories, including ethanol and gasoline production. February crude oil is starting slightly lower. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 95.83 at 36,398.3 and the S&P 500 down 4.84 at 4,786.35 as the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 1.48%. Early Wednesday, March Dow Jones futures are trading up 58 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.56% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.91%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.85%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.33% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.01%. The March euro is down $0.0022 at $1.1301. The March U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.16 at 96.36. The March 30-year T-bond is down 7/32nds, while February gold is down $9.10 at $1,801.80 and February crude oil is down $0.10 at $75.88. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was down 0.5%, January soybeans were down 1.3%, May soybean meal was down 0.9% and May soybean oil was down 0.0%. March Malaysian palm oil is trading down 1.6%.
