DTN Early Word Grains 12/31 06:20 Grains Posting Gains on Final Session of 2021 March corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are up 5 1/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 2 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn is up 3/4 cent per bushel, March soybeans are up 5 1/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 2 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Trade was mixed in equities overnight with some indices already closed for New Year celebrations. Most couldn't wait to get out of 2020 and into 2021 with the sentiment feeling similar heading into 2022. Energy markets are lower overnight with crude oil looking at its first lower close in eight sessions. The U.S. Dollar Index is slightly lower overnight but still inside its recent range. Metals are higher in the overnight with copper leading gains, up 1.02%. Grain markets are higher overnight, trying to end 2021 on a positive note. If most of these contracts exited the year without a selloff, bulls would be content. Weather forecasts for South America will drive trade when 2022 takes over. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 90.55 at 36,398.08 and the S&P 500 down 14.33 at 4,793.06 while the 10-year Treasury yield ended at 1.515%. Early Friday, the March DJIA futures are down 44 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 115.17 (0.4%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 20.59 points (0.57%). European markets are mixed with London's FTSE 100 down 19.93 points (0.27%), Germany's DAX up 32.61 points (0.21%) and France's CAC 40 down 18.87 points (0.26%). The March euro is up 0.000 at 1.130 and the March U.S. dollar index is down 0.029 at 95.935. The March 30-year T-Bond is up 1/32nds, while February gold is up $5.60 at $1,819.70 and February crude oil is down $0.65 at $76.34. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were down 1.34% while soybean meal was down 1.21% and corn was down 0.43%.
