DTN Early Word Grains 01/13 05:57 Grain, Soybeans Under Pressure Early Thursday Morning March corn is down 3 cents, March soybeans are down 8 cents, and March KC wheat is down 10 1/4 cents. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn is down 3 cents, March soybeans are down 8 cents, and March KC wheat is down 10 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Dow Jones futures are up early Thursday with European and Asian markets lower. The bond market is higher. Weather in the U.S. features some light snow in Minnesota and Wisconsin, with a winter storm projected to move across the Midwest beginning Friday. In South America, high heat has been stressing crops, with rains expected to move into southern Brazil and Argentina by the weekend and into next week. The January USDA and WASDE report featured small, but bearish data for corn, bearish data for wheat, and neutral to positive changes for the soy market. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 38.30 at 36,290.32 and the S&P 500 up 13.28 at 4,726.35 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.748%. Early Thursday, the March DJIA futures are up 42 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei down 276.53 (-0.096%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 42.17 points (+1.17%). European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 3.05 points (+0.04%), Germany's DAX down 19.51 points (+0.53%) and France's CAC 40 down 21.90 points (+0.31%). The March Euro is at 1.15, and the March U.S. Dollar Index is down .071 at 94.83. The March 30-Year T-Bond is down 8/32nds, while February gold is down 5.20 at $1,822.10 and Feb crude oil is down 0.03 at $81.99. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are down slightly and soybean meal is down.
