DTN Early Word Grains 02/01 05:59 Grains Up to Begin February March corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 1 3/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 5 3/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn is up 1 1/2 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 1 3/4 cents, and March KC wheat is up 5 3/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Equities are mixed to higher overnight with U.S. futures slightly lower. Chinese markets are closed for the Lunar New Year the rest of the week. Several big name companies will report earnings today including Exxon Mobil, United Parcel Service, Google's parent company Alphabet, General Motors and Starbucks. Energy markets are slightly weaker overnight but mostly holding the recent gains. The U.S. Dollar Index is solidly weaker overnight, following through on Monday's selling after posting multi-year highs last Friday. Metals are higher overnight with gains led by silver, up 2.09%. Grain markets are mostly higher overnight except for soybean oil. Grains holding gains on the first day of the month would be a small technical positive. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 406.39 at 35,131.86 and the S&P 500 up 83.70 at 4,431.85 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.782%. Early Tuesday, the March DJIA futures are down 33 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 up 76.5 (0.28%) and China's Shanghai Composite is closed. European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 61.38 points (0.82%), Germany's DAX up 172.82 points (1.12%) and France's CAC 40 up 72.91 points (1.04%). The March Euro is up 0.003 at 1.130 and the March U.S. dollar index is down 0.252 at 96.285. The March 30-Year T-Bond is up 14/32nds, while April gold is up $12.10 at $1,808.50 and March crude oil is down $0.18 at $87.97. Dalian commodity markets are closed.
