DTN Closing Grain Comments 02/17 13:52 Corn, Soy With Modest Gains; Winter Wheat Strong Close The soy complex and the corn market began the day with sharp early gains, but could not hold those gains, fading at midsession. A new contract high was made in March bean oil and the contract high was matched on November beans, prior to the sell-off. Corn and soy recovered to close a couple cents higher, while winter wheat markets finished the day with solid gains. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: March corn closed up 3 cents per bushel and December corn was up 2 3/4 cents. March soybeans closed up 4 1/2 cents and November soybeans were up 5 1/4 cents. March KC wheat closed up 15 cents, March Chicago wheat was up 17 1/2 cents and March Minneapolis wheat was up 3 3/4 cents. The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.108 at 95.805. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 504.57 points at 34,429.70. April gold is up $30.90 at $1,902.40, March silver is up $0.29 at $23.90 and March copper is down $0.0275 at $4.5090. March crude oil is down $2.05 at $91.61, April heating oil is down $0.0563, April RBOB is down $0.0378 and March natural gas is down $0.235.
