DTN Early Word Grains 02/18 05:52 Grains Mixed Ahead of Holiday Weekend March corn is down 1 1/4 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 8 1/2 cents, and March KC wheat is down 1 1/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn is down 1 1/4 cents per bushel, March soybeans are up 8 1/2 cents, and March KC wheat is down 1 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Equity trade is mostly higher overnight with U.S. futures projecting a stronger cash open Friday morning. The energy sector is getting shellacked overnight, however, with spot crude oil slipping back below $90.00 per barrel and products 2.2-2.3% lower. Analysts are citing the prospect of additional Iranian supplies if the Iran nuclear deal is revived in coming weeks. The U.S. Dollar Index is flat overnight and inside recent ranges. Metals are mixed with gold and silver lower while copper is slightly higher. Grain prices are mixed overnight with corn and wheat mostly lower while the soy complex is mostly higher. Most contracts are off overnight lows even with the heavy selling in crude oil. March soybeans are back to the 16.00 level which could set up an interesting session with March option expiration later Friday afternoon. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 622.24 at 34,312.03 and the S&P 500 down 94.75 at 4,475.01 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.972%. Early Friday, the March DJIA futures are up 139 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 down 110.8 (-0.41%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 22.72 points (0.66%). European markets are higher with London's FTSE 100 up 17.96 points (0.24%), Germany's DAX down 26.71 points (-0.17%) and France's CAC 40 up 20.25 points (0.29%). The March Euro is up 0.000 at 1.140 and the March U.S. dollar index is up 0.002 at 95.805. The March 30-Year T-Bond is up 6/32nds, while April gold is down $10.50 at $1,891.50 and March crude oil is down $2.39 at $89.37. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange were up 2.59% while soybean meal was up 2.39%.
