IA 1,000 143.00-141.00 226.00 DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP: The bulk of business took place on Wednesday last week, with just a little scattered cleanup reported on Thursday and Friday. Southern live deals had a full range of $140 to $142.50, mostly $142, generally $2 higher than the prior week's weighted averages. Northern dressed trade had a full range of $224 to $229, mostly $226, roughly $2 higher than the previous week's weighted average basis Nebraska. According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Summary reports the accumulated weekly average price totals are as follows (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in parentheses): KS $141.97($139.91); NE $225.99($223.90); TX $142.02($139.96); IA $226.35($224.28); CO not available due to confidentiality. According to the Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle reports weekly trade volume totals were: KS 18,490; NE 28,156; TX 9,735; IA 20,370, CO not available due to confidentiality. Friday's slaughter totaled 121,000 head, 1,000 more than the prior week, and 13,000 greater than the previous year. Saturday's kill was estimated at 54,000 head, bringing the weekly total to 663,000 head, 4,000 above the week before, and 114,000 higher than 2021, when server winter storms blanketed much of feeding country. The weekly averages for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $269.88(-6.43), select $266.02(-5.52), with an average choice select spread of $3.86(-0.91), and a total load count including cuts, trimmings, and grinds of 634(+23). Changes from the prior week are listed in parentheses. For the week ending February 12, 2022, Imported Beef Passed for Entry in the U.S. totaled 49,371,103.53% of the previous week and 98.01% of the 4-week average. DTN MORNING COMMENTS: It looks like it will be a quiet Monday morning with both buyers and sellers busy taking inventory. Bids and asking prices will likely not be established until later in the week and significant trade volume will probably be delayed until Wednesday or later. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with generally light box movement.
