DTN Early Word Grains 02/22 05:56 Grains, Energy Surge Higher on Russian Advance March corn was up 13 1/4 cents, March soybeans were up 25 1/4 cents and March KC wheat was up 25 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn was up 13 1/4 cents, March soybeans were up 25 1/4 cents and March KC wheat was up 25 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Tuesday, Dow Jones futures are trading lower, while grain prices and crude oil are higher, largely related to reports Russian troops have been ordered to move into eastern Ukraine after Russia's President Putin declared the region independent states, not a part of Ukraine. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 232.85 at 34,079.18 and the S&P 500 down 31.39 at 4,348.87 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.97%. Early Tuesday, March Dow Jones futures are trading down 61 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 1.70% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 1.0%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.09%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.48% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.33%. The March euro is up $0.0009 at $1.1347. The March U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.08 at 95.95. The March 30-year T-bond is up 14/32nds, while April gold is down $1.30 at $1,898.50 and March crude oil is up $4.25 at $94.46. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was up slightly, March soybeans were up 1.9%, May soybean meal was up 1.5% and May soybean oil was up 0.9%. May Malaysian palm oil is trading up 3.0%.
