DTN Early Word Grains 02/23 05:55 Corn, Wheat Prices Starting Lower With Eyes on Ukraine March corn was down 4 cents, March soybeans were up 11 1/4 cents and March KC wheat was down 4 1/4 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: March corn was down 4 cents, March soybeans were up 11 1/4 cents and March KC wheat was down 4 1/4 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Wednesday, Dow Jones futures are trading higher along with stocks in Europe as traders appear to be settling down from news that Russian troops are moving into Ukraine. European leaders and the U.S. responded with sanctions against Russia on Tuesday and it remains to be seen what Russian forces intend to do. In more encouraging news, new daily cases of coronavirus are rapidly falling in the U.S. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 482.57 at 33,596.61 and the S&P 500 down 44.11 at 4,304.76 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 1.95%. Early Wednesday, March Dow Jones futures are trading up 178 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 1.71% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.93%. European markets are higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.50%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.96% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 1.05%. The March euro is up $0.0017 at $1.1357. The March U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.13 at 95.89. The March 30-year T-bond is down 7/32nds, while April gold is down $12.00 at $1,895.40 and April crude oil is down $0.89 at $91.02. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was up 0.7%, March soybeans were up 0.3%, May soybean meal was up 0.6% and May soybean oil was down 1.0%. May Malaysian palm oil is trading up 2.4%.
