DTN Closing Grain Comments 03/07 14:02 Chicago Wheat Shorts Send That Market Limit Higher for Sixth Straight Day As the Russian-Ukraine crisis extends another week, wheat, and especially Chicago wheat, has been the focus of the bull move in grains and soy. For the sixth straight session, Chicago May futures closed limit higher, with Monday's limit raised to 85 cents. Friday's CFTC Commitment of Traders report showed a still sizable number of noncommercial shorts in Chicago, who have been trying to run for the exit door. Corn, the soy complex and other wheat markets traded in volatile and two-sided fashion. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: May corn closed down 3 1/2 cents per bushel and December corn was up 13 1/4 cents. May soybeans closed down 1 cent and November soybeans were up 2 3/4 cents. May KC wheat closed up 37 cents, July Chicago wheat was up 77 1/4 cents and May Minneapolis wheat was up 50 1/2 cents. The March U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.584 at 99.255. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 641.35 points at 32,973.45. April gold is up $30.50 at $1,997.10, May silver is down $0.02 at $25.77 and May copper is down $0.1900 at $4.7475. April crude oil is up $3.07 at $118.75, April heating oil is up $0.1272, April RBOB is up $0.0129 and April natural gas is down $0.199.
