DTN Closing Grain Comments 03/21 13:49 Wheat Flies Higher; New Contract High on December Corn As the war rages on in Ukraine, grain and soy markets reacted with bullish vigor again to start the new week. New crop corn rose to a new contract high, as fertilizer inflation and shortages, along with concern over the prospect for Black Sea spring crops to get planted in a timely fashion, crept into markets. Chicago spot wheat reached limit-up on Monday, before finishing 20 cents below. Bean oil rose again on the sharp rise in crude oil, which has rallied back $17 per barrel from last week's low. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: May corn closed up 14 1/2 cents per bushel and December corn was up 18 1/2 cents. May soybeans closed up 23 cents and November soybeans were up 23 1/4 cents. May KC wheat closed up 42 3/4 cents, May Chicago wheat was up 55 1/2 cents and May Minneapolis wheat was up 26 3/4 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.208 at 98.435. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 269.38 points at 34,485.55. April gold is up $3.20 at $1,932.50, May silver is up $0.25 at $25.34 and May copper is down $0.0325 at $4.7070. April crude oil is up $6.44 at $111.14, April heating oil is up $0.1864, May RBOB is up $0.1186 and April natural gas is up $0.041.
