DTN Early Word Grains 03/21 05:51 Grains Higher Early as Fighting in Ukraine Continues May corn was up 10 3/4 cents, May soybeans were up 17 1/2 cents and May KC wheat was up 18 1/2 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: May corn was up 10 3/4 cents, May soybeans were up 17 1/2 cents and May KC wheat was up 18 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Monday, Dow Jones futures are trading lower, while fighting continues in Ukraine. The Wall Street Journal and other sources are reporting Ukraine has rejected Russia's demand to surrender the port city of Mariupol and continues to try to negotiate safe passage for civilians to leave the city. May crude oil is trading higher after missiles from Yemen hit a Saudi oil refinery over the weekend. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 274.17 at 34,754.93 and the S&P 500 up 51.45 at 4,463.12 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.15%. Early Monday, June Dow Jones futures are trading down 114 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.65% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.08%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.45%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.09% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.11%. The June euro is up $0.0006 at $1.1090. The June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.01 at 98.24. The June 30-year T-bond is down 18/32nds, while June gold is down $2.40 at $1,926.90 and May crude oil is up $3.68 at $104.33. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was up 0.1%, May soybeans were up 0.2%, May soybean meal was up 0.9% and May soybean oil was down 1.5%. June Malaysian palm oil is trading up 5.2%.
