DTN Closing Grain Comments 03/22 13:51 Early Rally Effort Fizzles Out; Wheat, Corn Fall From Highs The grain markets seemed to have mixed messages Tuesday with early morning strength reflecting the continued pummeling of Ukraine by Russia's military. That seemed to be offset somewhat by other reports that perhaps Ukraine was leaning more toward a compromise. The net effect was a very volatile day, which saw huge early gains dissipate later, led of course, by Chicago May wheat. As trading approached noon, May wheat had traded in a 67-cent range, ultimately falling to close lower. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: May corn closed down 3 1/4 cents per bushel and December corn was up 6 cents. May soybeans closed up 5 1/2 cents and November soybeans were up 8 cents. May KC wheat closed up 3 1/4 cents, May Chicago wheat was down 1 cent and May Minneapolis wheat was up 7 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.026 at 98.525. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 208.93 points at 34,761.92.
