DTN Early Word Grains 03/29 06:00 Wheat Again Leads Way Lower Ahead of Peace Talks on Tuesday May corn is down 5 cents, May soybeans are up 5 1/4 cents, and July KC May wheat is down 11 cents. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: May corn is down 5 cents, May soybeans are up 5 1/4 cents, and July KC May wheat is down 11 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Tuesday, Dow Jones futures are higher with European markets all higher and Asian markets mixed. The bond market is higher. The news from Ukraine is that the Russian forces seem to have stalled outside of Kyiv ahead of the next round of peace talks to be held in Istanbul on Tuesday. The fighting continues as the Ukraine fighters shot down Russian planes. In the U.S., unsettled weather appears to be moving from the West which will keep the Corn Belt and southeast wet this week but miss the driest areas of the hard red winter belt and western Plains. Showers are again expected in South America before a return to dryness in Argentina. The equity markets in the U.S. and EU are higher to begin. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 94.65 at 34,955.89 and the S&P 500 up 32.46 at 4,575.52 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended higher at 2.477%. Early Tuesday, the June DJIA futures are up 136 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei up 308.53 (+ 1.10%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 10.56 points (-0.33%). European markets are up, with London's FTSE 100 up 63.97 points (+0.85%), Germany's DAX up 250.37 points (+1.74%) and France's CAC 40 up 171.98 points (+2.64%). The June Euro is at 1.11, and the June U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.215 at 98.84. The June 30-Year T-Bond is down 16/32nds, while June gold is down 29.50 at $1910.30 and May crude oil is up 7 cents at $106.03. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are lower and soybean meal is lower as well.
