DTN Early Word Grains 03/30 05:54 Winter Wheat Markets Leak Lower Again; Corn, Soy Recover Modestly May corn is up 7 cents, May soybeans are up 3 3/4 cents, and July KC May wheat is down 4 1/2 cents. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: May corn is up 7 cents, May soybeans are up 3 3/4 cents, and July KC May wheat is down 4 1/2 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Wednesday, Dow Jones futures are lower with European and Asian markets mixed. The bond market is lower. The news from Ukraine is that even though there are reports of Russian troops pulling back to focus on the Donbas regions, they continue to bomb Kyiv. Also, there is word that Ukraine troops may have started to shell Russian territory. Grain and soy markets weakened on Tuesday as reports of progress in peace talks made the rounds. U.S. weather features snow in the Upper Midwest and rains moving across the Eastern Plains into the Eastern Corn Belt. Weather in South America continues favorable, but dryness is expected to return to Argentina. Crude oil has popped back up nearly $3 per barrel early on Wednesday following mixed messages on Russia's intentions. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 338.30 at 35,294.19 and the S&P 500 up 56.08 at 4,631.60 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended lower at 2.40%. Early Wednesday, the June DJIA futures are down 110 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei down 225.47 (- 0.80%) and China's Shanghai Composite up 52.09 points (+1.62%). European markets are mixed, with London's FTSE 100 down 3.61 points (+0.10%), Germany's DAX up 217.09 points (+1.49%) and France's CAC 40 up 128.36 points (+1.95%). The June Euro is at 1.12, and the June U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.551 at 97.85. The June 30-Year T-Bond is up 2/32nds, while June gold is up 6.30 at $1924.30 and May crude oil is up 2.84 cents at $107.08. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are lower and soybean meal is lower as well.
