DTN Early Word Grains 03/31 06:10 Grain, Soybeans Quiet and Mostly Lower; Crude Oil Under Heavy Pressure May corn is down 1 3/4 cents, May soybeans are down 3 3/4 cents, and July KC May wheat is down 1 cent. CME Globex Recap: Early Thursday, Dow Jones futures are slightly lower with European markets lower and Asian markets mixed. The bond market is lower. News from Eastern Europe is that Ukraine has taken back three more cities from the Russians. China is looking to establish closer ties with Russia despite the ongoing war, and the UN is launching a study into war crimes committed by Russia. Weather in the U.S. features some moisture in the Upper Midwest with the Delta and southeast looking at more rains over the next 10 days. South America is mostly favorable, but Argentina again turns dry. The USDA stocks and seeding report is out Thursday morning. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Wednesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 65.38 at 35,228.80 and the S&P 500 down 29.15 at 4,602.45 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended lower at 2.358%. Early Thursday, the June DJIA futures are down 9 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei down 25.82 (- 0.73%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 14.39 points (-0.44%). European markets are mixed, with London's FTSE 100 down 5.38 points (-0.08%), Germany's DAX down 4.82 points (-0.03%) and France's CAC 40 up 174.96 points (+2.17%). The June Euro is at 1.11, and the June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.370 at 98.235. The June 30-Year T-Bond is up 8/32nds, while June gold is down 7.20 at $1931.60 and May crude oil is down 6.45 cents at $101.26. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are lower and soybean meal is lower as well.
