DTN Early Word Grains 04/01 05:54 The Morning After USDA: Wheat Higher, Row Crops Lower May corn was down 1 1/4 cents, May soybeans were down 6 1/2 cents and May KC wheat was up 16 1/2 cents Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: May corn was down 1 1/4 cents, May soybeans were down 6 1/2 cents and May KC wheat was up 16 1/2 cents CME Globex Recap: Early Friday, Dow Jones futures are trading modestly higher, in line with European stocks ahead of Friday morning's reports from the Labor Department. According to Marketwatch.com, nonfarm payrolls are expected to have increased 490,000 in March. May crude oil is trading a little higher early Friday after the White House said Thursday it would release one million barrels of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve for six months. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Thursday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 550.46 at 34,678.35 and the S&P 500 down 72.04 at 4,530.41 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.33%, down from its recent high. Early Friday, June Dow Jones futures are trading up 175 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.56% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.94%. European markets are higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.18%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.10% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.23%. The June euro is down $0.0016 at $1.1083. The June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.16 at 98.52. The June 30-year T-bond is down 1 12/32nds, while June gold is down $14.30 at $1,939.70 and May crude oil is down $0.01 at $100.27. On China's Dalian exchange, May corn was up 0.2%, May soybeans were down 1.9%, May soybean meal was down 3.0% and May soybean oil was down 0.4%. June Malaysian palm oil is trading down 3.2%.
