DTN Early Word Grains 04/11 05:53 Wheat Leads Grains Higher; Soybeans, Bean Oil Slump with Crude Oil May corn is up 3 cents, May soybeans are down 9 cents, and July KC May wheat is up 14 cents. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: May corn is up 3 cents, May soybeans are down 9 cents, and July KC May wheat is up 14 cents. CME Globex Recap: Early Monday, Dow Jones futures are slightly lower with European markets mixed and Asian markets lower. The bond market is lower. Friday's WASDE report caused a bullish reaction for grain and soybeans despite the report not being as bullish as traders had expected. There is little news on the war in Ukraine early Monday, but Russia is said to be calling up reservists and looking to bolster their military to push ahead. Weather remains too dry in Argentina and Brazil with a sharp fall in Argentine conditions on soy and corn last week. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes on Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 137.55 at 34,721.12 and the S&P 500 down 11.93 at 4,488.28 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended higher at 2.71%. Early Monday, the June DJIA futures are down 23 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei down 164.28 (- 0.61%) and China's Shanghai Composite down 84.72 points (-2.61%). European markets are mixed, with London's FTSE 100 down 35.09 points (-0.46%), Germany's DAX down 102.46 points (-0.72%) and France's CAC 40 up 17.78 points (+0.27%). The June Euro is at 1.09, and the June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.082 at 99.835. The June 30-Year T-Bond is up 16/32nds, while June gold is up 16.90 at $1962.60 and May crude oil is down 2.46 cents at $95.80. Soybeans on China's Dalian Exchange are higher and soybean meal is higher as well.
