DTN Closing Grain Comments 04/18 13:48 Grain and Soy Markets Surge on War, Weather, Demand There appears to be little hope of any sort of cease fire in the Russia-Ukraine war, with Russia continuing to lob missiles at Ukrainian cities over the weekend. That, coupled with some challenging planting weather in the U.S. and concerning dryness in Brazil's safrinha corn belt, and solid soy demand, is giving the markets strong support to begin the new week. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: July corn closed up 23 1/4 cents per bushel and December corn was up 14 1/2 cents. July soybeans closed up 28 cents and November soybeans were up 19 1/2 cents. July KC wheat closed up 31 3/4 cents, July Chicago wheat was up 24 1/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was up 32 1/2 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.429 at 100.755. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 71.39 points at 34,522.62. June gold is up $6.70 at $1,981.60, May silver is up $0.32 at $26.02 and May copper is up $0.0770 at $4.8005. May crude oil is up $1.33 at $108.28, May heating oil is up $0.0323, June RBOB is down $0.0031 and May natural gas is up $0.536.
