DTN Closing Livestock Comment 04/19 16:09 Packers Hungry for More Cattle Heading into Wednesday's trade, the cash cattle market is gunning for higher prices again. ShayLe Stewart DTN Livestock Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: It was a redeeming day for the cattle sector as both the live cattle and feeder cattle contracts were able to close higher, and the cash market saw Northern dressed cattle sell $4.00 higher and Southern live cattle sell $1.00 higher. The lean hog sector didn't see the same support, but the cash hog market closed higher. Hog prices closed higher on the Daily Direct Afternoon Hog Report, up $4.35 with a weighted average of $101.57 on 7,342 head. May corn is down 9 1/4 cents per bushel and May soybean meal is down $1.60. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 499.51 points.
