DTN Early Word Grains 04/19 05:51 Grain Prices Quietly Higher After Monday's Gains July corn was up 1/2 cent, July soybeans were up 1 1/4 cents and July KC wheat was up 1 cent Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: July corn was up 1/2 cent, July soybeans were up 1 1/4 cents and July KC wheat was up 1 cent CME Globex Recap: Early Tuesday, Dow Jones futures are trading slightly lower, in line with European markets. Investors continue to be cautious these days with ongoing concerns about rising prices and the anticipation of higher interest rates ahead. Several earnings reports are due out Tuesday and a report on U.S. housing starts is due out at 7:30 a.m. CDT. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 39.54 at 34,411.69 and the S&P 500 down 0.90 at 4,391.69 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.86%, its highest in three years. Early Tuesday, June Dow Jones futures are trading down 42 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.69% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 0.05%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.40%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 1.10% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.90%. The June euro is up $0.0019 at $1.0827. The June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.01 at 100.77. The June 30-year T-bond is down 18/32nds, while June gold is down $5.10 at $1,981.30 and June crude oil is down $1.48 at $106.13. On China's Dalian exchange, September corn was up 0.7%, May soybeans were up 1.7%, September soybean meal was up 1.2% and September soybean oil was up 0.8%. June Malaysian palm oil is trading up 2.7%.
