DTN Closing Grain Comments 04/22 13:40 Corn, Soybeans and Meal Sink on Weather Ahead, Profit Taking Corn and soybeans began Friday with solid gains before midmorning selling sent both sharply lower. Likely a combination of a conducive harvest forecast next week and some long liquidation brought sellers into the markets. Soybeans fell hard in tandem with soy meal, and despite the soybean oil surge to new highs. Wheat was a mixed bag, with Chicago lagging, but both hard wheat markets rallied on the poor weather outlook ahead. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: July corn closed down 6 1/4 cents per bushel and December corn was down 14 1/4 cents. July soybeans closed down 31 1/2 cents and November soybeans were down 26 1/2 cents. July KC wheat closed up 6 cents, July Chicago wheat was down 1 1/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was up 7 1/4 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.536 at 101.150. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 691.82 points at 34,100.94. June gold is down $12.50 at $1,935.70, May silver is down $0.31 at $24.32 and May copper is down $0.1190 at $4.5850. June crude oil is down $1.67 at $102.12, June heating oil is up $0.0169, June RBOB is down $0.0306 and May natural gas is down $0.421.
