China's Shanghai Composite Index is down over 5% early Monday and crude oil is sharply lower after the Wall Street Journal reported new Covid cases continue to climb in China. Several big earnings reports are also due out this week, including Apple, Alphabet and Microsoft. Monday's reports include Coca Cola. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 981.36 at 33,811.40 and the S&P 500 down 121.88 at 4,271.78 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.91%, near its highest in three years. Early Monday, June Dow Jones futures are trading down 300 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 1.90% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 5.13%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 2.40%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 1.98% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 2.42%. The June euro is down $0.0038 at $1.0770. The June U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.30 at 101.51. The June 30-year T-bond is up 1 8/32nds, while June gold is down $16.40 at $1,917.90 and June crude oil is down $4.24 at $97.74. On China's Dalian exchange, September corn was down 0.6%, May soybeans were down 0.2%, September soybean meal was down 1.9% and September soybean oil was up 1.8%. June Malaysian palm oil is trading down 2.3%.
