Hard red winter is maintaining a premium to dark northern spring, with exporters bumping basis a dime higher late last week. Trading activity has been limited and the pace of export movement off PNW ports has also slowed considerably over the past few weeks. Crop Progress...USDA reported winter wheat conditions unchanged over the past week for the PNW, remaining at 94% of average. With that there was a major shift in the good to excellent for Idaho, which saw a gain of 9 points to 56%. Countering that was a 2% drop for that category in Oregon to 55%, and Washington slipped 4% to 52%. Warming temperatures and wide spread moisture this week should benefit all crops. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed movement off PNW ports slowed considerably last week for wheat and soybeans, with most of the activity centered upon corn. Japan and the Philippines were the only wheat takers last week, and China took primarily sorghum. South Korea and Japan were the top destinations for corn, taking a total of 12 mb. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2022 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
