DTN Early Word Grains 05/03 05:55 Slow Planting Supports Grains July corn is up 4 1/4 cents per bushel, July soybeans are down 2 cents, and July KC wheat is up 7 3/4 cents. Tregg Cronin DTN Contributing Analyst Pre-6 a.m. Globex Prices: July corn is up 4 1/4 cents per bushel, July soybeans are down 2 cents, and July KC wheat is up 7 3/4 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Equity markets were mixed to lower overnight with U.S. futures slightly lower ahead of the start of the two-day FOMC meeting. On Monday, the 10-year treasury note rose above 3.0% for the first time since 2018 before easing back under that level. Globally, German 10-year government bonds rose above 1.0% for the first time since 2015. Energy prices are lower overnight, although heating oil and natural gas are holding small gains as the former continues to be the strongest leg of the complex. The U.S. Dollar Index is slightly weaker overnight but holding near recent highs. Metals are firmer with copper up 1.39%. Grain markets are mixed to higher overnight with corn, wheat and meal up while soybeans and soybean oil are lower. The slow pace of planting is supportive to the ag room, making each round of forecasts important to price action. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 84.29 at 33,061.50 and the S&P 500 up 23.45 at 4,131.93 while the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.996%. Early Tuesday, the June DJIA futures are down 13 points. Asian were closed. European markets are lower with London's FTSE 100 down 21.13 points (-0.28%), Germany's DAX up 80.39 points (0.58%) and France's CAC 40 up 59.6 points (0.93%). The June Euro is up 0.001 at 1.050 and the June U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.111 at 103.655. The June 30-Year T-Bond is up 10/32nds, while June gold is down $7.20 at $1,856.40 and June crude oil is down $0.82 at $104.35. Dalian markets were closed.
