DTN Closing Grain Comments 05/09 14:29 Clearing Weather, Plunging Outside Markets Sink Grain and Soy The new week brought new life to planting efforts with all but the wet Northern Plains and Upper Midwest in line for a big uptick in seeding this week. Macroeconomic markets are under severe pressure, with equities, energies, and metals all collapsing and spilling into the ag markets. Wheat was higher early on worsening weather in several places, but could not ignore the selling and also closed down. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: July corn closed down 12 3/4 cents per bushel and December corn was down 10 cents. July soybeans closed down 36 3/4 cents and November soybeans were down 24 cents. July KC wheat closed down 6 1/4 cents, July Chicago wheat was down 15 3/4 cents and July Minneapolis wheat was down 2 cents. The June U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.121 at 103.815. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 527.04 points at 32,372.33. June gold is down $26.70 at $1,856.10, July silver is down $0.60 at $21.77 and July copper is down $0.0735 at $4.1935. June crude oil is down $6.52 at $103.25, June heating oil is down $0.1167, June RBOB is down $0.1093 and June natural gas is down $1.010.
