DTN Early Word Grains 06/29 05:55 Grains Mostly Higher Early With USDA Reports One Day Away December corn was up 1/2 cent, November soybeans were up 7 cents and September KC wheat was up 16 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Wednesday, U.S. stocks on the Dow Jones Industrials are trading slightly lower, in line with lower prices in Europe and Asia. On Wednesday, central bankers will be speaking at a gathering in Portugal and expectations are that investors will be hearing a lot of hawkish talk. NATO leaders are meeting in Madrid as Russian forces press their attack on several areas in Ukraine. Later Wednesday morning, the U.S. Commerce Department will have an update of first-quarter U.S. GDP and the U.S. Energy Department will update two weeks of energy inventories data, including ethanol production. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 491.27 at 30,946.99 and the S&P 500 down 78.56 at 3,821.55 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.21%, down from the highest level in three and a half years. Early Wednesday, June Dow Jones futures are trading down 21 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.91% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 1.40%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.58%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 1.20% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.67%. The September euro is down $0.0012 at $1.0572. The September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.05 at 104.32. The September 30-year T-bond is up 22/32nds, while August gold is down $3.90 at $1,817.30 and August crude oil is down $0.20 at $111.56. On China's Dalian exchange, September corn was up 0.2%, September soybeans were up 0.5%, September soybean meal was up 0.5% and September soybean oil was up 0.6%. September Malaysian palm oil is trading down 1.3%.
