DTN Early Word Grains 08/01 05:49 U.S. Crop Prices Fall Back, Ship Carrying Corn Leaves Ukraine December corn was down 11 cents, November soybeans were down 19 cents and September KC wheat was down 13 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst PRE-6 a.m. GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was down 11 cents, November soybeans were down 19 cents and September KC wheat was down 13 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Monday, U.S. stocks on the Dow Jones Industrials are trading lower, contrary to the higher start for stocks in Europe and Asia. Overnight, manufacturing indices for July were mostly lower in Asia and Europe with several showing signs of contraction. In China, manufacturing activity slowed, but showed slight expansion. In the Eurozone, the index of manufacturing showed slight contraction. According to the Wall Street Journal, the first ship of grain left Ukraine Monday, headed to Tripoli, Lebanon with 26,000 metric tons (mt) (1.0 million bushels [mb]) of corn. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average up 315.50 at 32,845.13 and the S&P 500 up 57.86 at 4,130.29 as the 10-Year Treasury yield fell to 2.64%, the lowest in over three months. Early Monday, September Dow Jones futures are trading down 22 points. Asian markets are higher with Japan's Nikkei 225 index up 0.69% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.21%. European markets are higher with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading up 0.28%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.39% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.38%. The September euro is up $0.0039 at $1.0294. The September U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.51 at 105.27. The September 30-year T-bond is down 17/32nds, while August gold is up $7.50 at $1,789.30 and September crude oil is down $1.79 at $96.83. On China's Dalian exchange, September corn was up 0.2%, September soybeans were up 1.5%, September soybean meal was up 1.6% and September soybean oil was up 1.4%. September Malaysian palm oil is trading down 4.8%.
