Early Monday, U.S. stock futures on the Dow Jones Industrials are trading lower, influenced by losses in Europe. CNBC.com reported German Bundesbank President Joachim Nagel was quoted as saying the European Central Bank must keep raising interest rates despite recession risks in Germany. Federal Chairman Jerome Powell is expected to speak at an economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Friday. According to CNBC.com and FactSet, second quarter earnings reports for the S&P 500 are 95% complete and 75% of them have been better than expected. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Friday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 292.30 at 33,706.74 and the S&P 500 down 55.26 at 4,228.48 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 2.99%, up from its lowest rate in four months. Early Monday, September Dow Jones futures are trading down 292 points. Asian markets are mixed with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.47% and China's Shanghai Composite Index up 0.61%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.43%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 1.73% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 1.65%. The September euro is down $0.0020 at $1.0031. The September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.15 at 108.25. The September 30-year T-bond is up 4/32nds, while December gold is down $16.60 at $1,746.30 and October crude oil is down $1.10 at $89.34. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was up slightly, September soybeans were up 0.9%, January soybean meal was up 0.5% and January soybean oil was up 1.4%. November Malaysian palm oil is trading up 1.4%.
