DTN Closing Grain Comments 08/23 13:50 Corn, Soybeans Lead an Upside Explosion on Falling Crop Ideas, More Dry Weather Falling crop ratings for both corn and soybean on Monday's crop progress report, along with some dire yield estimates from states hardest hit with drought, sent corn and soy futures screaming higher Tuesday, with wheat higher as well for the third straight day. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: September corn closed up 26 1/2 cents per bushel and December corn was up 26 1/4 cents. September soybeans closed up 39 3/4 cents and November soybeans were up 25 3/4 cents. December KC wheat closed up 13 cents, December Chicago wheat was up 12 1/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat was up 9 1/4 cents. The September U.S. Dollar Index is trading down 0.476 at 108.505. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is down 134.70 points at 32,928.91. December gold is up $12.10 at $1,760.50, September silver is up $0.12 at $19.00 and September copper is up $0.0365 at $3.6880. October crude oil is up $3.37 at $93.73, October heating oil is up $0.0683, October RBOB is up $0.0684 and September natural gas is down $0.444.
