DTN Early Word Grains 08/23 05:40 Corn Prices Higher After Lower USDA Crop Rating EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was up 16 cents, November soybeans were up 12 cents and September KC wheat was up 16 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was up 16 cents, November soybeans were up 12 cents and September KC wheat was up 16 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Tuesday, U.S. stock futures on the Dow Jones Industrials are trading a little higher with mixed trade in Europe. Current worries are mostly on problems in Europe and China, exacerbated by the anticipation of another U.S. rate hike in September. U.S. new home sales for July will be posted at 9 a.m. CDT Tuesday. According to CNBC.com, Tuesday's earnings reports will include Dick's Sporting Goods, Nordstrom and Macy's. Federal Chairman Jerome Powell will speak at an economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, Friday. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Monday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 643.13 at 33,063.61 and the S&P 500 down 90.49 at 4,137.99 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.04%, the highest rate in a month. Early Tuesday, September Dow Jones futures are trading up 28 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 1.19% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 1.57%. European markets are mixed with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.31%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading up 0.26% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading up 0.10%. The September euro is down $0.0003 at $.9948. The September U.S. Dollar Index is down 0.07 at 108.92. The September 30-year T-bond is up 3/8nds, while December gold is up $4.90 at $1,753.30 and October crude oil is up $1.36 at $91.72. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was up 1.2%, September soybeans were up 2.9%, January soybean meal was up 3.4% and January soybean oil was up 1.1%. November Malaysian palm oil is trading up 0.6%.
