DTN Closing Grain Comments 08/24 13:56 Corn, Soybeans, Bean Oil Give Up Some Early Gains on Profit-Taking, Wetter Outlook Grain and soy markets began Wednesday with more solid gains on a bullish weather outlook and the perception of falling yields based on slipping crop ratings and harvest-delaying rains in the south. However, that strength could not hold, as beans, corn and bean oil faded at midday, while all three wheat markets finished strong. A wetter midday forecast suggested good rain potential for Iowa, Illinois, and the eastern Midwest into the holiday weekend. Dana Mantini Senior Market Analyst GENERAL COMMENTS: September corn closed up 5 3/4 cents per bushel and December corn was up 2 cents. September soybeans closed down 6 cents and November soybeans were down 4 cents. December KC wheat closed up 14 1/4 cents, December Chicago wheat was up 12 3/4 cents and December Minneapolis wheat was up 8 cents. The September U.S. Dollar Index is trading up 0.011 at 108.565. The Dow Jones Industrial Average is up 9.76 points at 32,919.35. December gold is up $2.40 at $1,763.60, September silver is down $0.08 at $18.95 and September copper is down $0.0560 at $3.6395. October crude oil is up $0.96 at $94.70, October heating oil is up $0.1489, October RBOB is down $0.1082 and September natural gas is up $0.099.
