DTN Early Word Grains 08/24 05:49 Grain Prices Continue to Push Higher on Crop Concerns, Active Demand December corn was up 8 cents, November soybeans were up 16 cents and September KC wheat was up 12 cents. Todd Hultman DTN Lead Analyst EARLY GLOBEX PRICES: December corn was up 8 cents, November soybeans were up 16 cents and September KC wheat was up 12 cents. CME GLOBEX RECAP: Early Wednesday, U.S. stock futures on the Dow Jones Industrials are slightly lower with European stocks steady to lower. A report on U.S. durable goods orders is due out at 7:30 a.m. CDT Wednesday, followed by the Energy Department's report on crude oil inventory and ethanol production. Federal Chairman Jerome Powell will speak at an economic symposium in Jackson Hole, Wyoming Friday. Ukraine celebrates 41 years of independence from the Soviet Union today as it continues the fight for its survival. OUTSIDE MARKETS: Previous closes Tuesday showed the Dow Jones Industrial Average down 154.02 at 32,909.59 and the S&P 500 down 9.26 at 4,128.73 as the 10-Year Treasury yield ended at 3.05%, the highest rate in a month. Early Wednesday, September Dow Jones futures are trading down 26 points. Asian markets are lower with Japan's Nikkei 225 index down 0.49% and China's Shanghai Composite Index down 1.86%. European markets are lower with the spot futures of the London FTSE 100 trading down 0.29%, spot futures of Germany's DAX trading down 0.05% and spot futures of France's CAC Index trading down 0.04%. The September euro is down $0.0017 at $.9962. The September U.S. Dollar Index is up 0.06 at 108.62. The September 30-year T-bond is up 3/16nds, while December gold is up $3.60 at $1,764.80 and October crude oil is up $1.22 at $94.96. On China's Dalian exchange, January corn was up 1.0%, September soybeans were up 1.0%, January soybean meal was up 1.5% and January soybean oil was up 1.5%. November Malaysian palm oil is trading up 0.3%.
