Recent export demand and an improved shipping schedule have been supportive and farm selling remains relatively light. Crop Progress...Winter wheat harvest is nearing the finish line in Oregon and Washington, with respective completion rates of 98% and 85%. Idaho still lags the average pace by nearly 30%, reporting 67% of the crop being cut. Untimely rains have raised some concerns about possible sprout damage in a few isolated areas of the state. Shipments...Weekly export inspections showed U.S. wheat markets are finally seeing some much-needed movement off U.S. ports, registering a total of more than 19 mb for the second week in a row. Shipments now stand at 184 mb, which is 19% behind a year ago. Soft red winter wheat was the big mover at 6.1 mb, followed by red spring at 5.5 mb and hard red winter with 5 mb. Soft white recorded 2.4 mb off the west coast, going mostly to Vietnam and the Philippines. China also took nearly 8 mb of corn off PNW ports. -Norm Ruhoff Contributing Analyst Copyright 2022 DTN/Telvent. All Rights Reserved.
